Tipping

One of the steps taken in the fabrication of catheters, introducers, dilators and other tubes put into the body is tube tipping. Tube tipping is done by very carefully heat – treating the end of a tube to the point that it begins to soften. Our operators then conform this softened plastic into your detailed dimensions.

Some specifications require us “to take the edge” off by forming a slight radius on the outside edge of the tube. Other specs call for a more severe radius. Still other needs call for us to totally reconfigure the tube by thermoforming the end of the tube into a shape that looks like the end of a sharpened pencil. Application engineering by the customer determines the end product.

Sealing
This process seals one end of a cut tube making it into a needle sheath or protector.
