FBK's state-of-the art punching and skiving equipment can introduce single or multiple holes simultaneously. The tube can be rotated so the holes are placed at all positions around the tube or along the length of the tube. Some examples of how punched and skived tubing are used are balloon catheters, internal feeding tubes, wound drainage tubes and a variety of sampling, feeding and infusion devices.
Punching is the method of putting a specific size hole or multiple holes into the wall of tubing. In some applications, these holes may be introduced into the one side of the tube while in other applications the punching mechanism may pass through to the other side of the tubing making an identical hole on both sides of the tube.
Skiving is cutting a unique shaped hole into a single lumen of a multi-lumen through the use of precision processing equipment while the remaining lumens are not disturbed.
